The Scotch Plains Public Library offers many different resources that you can access for free with your library card – including electronic databases, books and more! Don’t have a library card? Children’s ebooks, movies, music and magazines:

eLibraryNJ/Libby
eLibraryNJ is a downloadable eBook and eAudiobook collection provided by libraries in central NJ, offering thousands of popular fiction and non-fiction titles. It is accessed through their website and through the Libby and OverDrive apps.

Scholastic’s BookFlix
BookFlix pairs classic fictional video storybooks from Weston Woods with nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic.

Scholastic’s TrueFlix
TrueFlix is an online resource that helps students hone literacy skills, build knowledge of subject-area content, and cultivate 21st Century skills through the inquiry process.

World Book eBooks
Access a variety of ebooks with your library card – from non-fiction to classic titles!

Flipster
Access your favorite magazines anytime, anywhere. Curl up and get comfortable. With Flipster you can read the latest issues of your favorite full-color magazines on your computer or mobile device.

Freegal
A downloadable and stream-able music service from SPPL. All you need is your library card number for access to about 3 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists.

Kanopy Kids
Kanopy Kids is offering FREE unlimited access kids to quality educational content like Sesame Street, Arthur, and even benefit from language learning series. Free access will be available for a limited time – must use an adult library card to log on (for details on how to log in view our Streaming Video & Music page).

Homework and study help:

    Get one-on-one help in 40 subjects including math, science, essay writing, foreign language, social studies, test prep, and more with live qualified tutors. Improve your research papers, resumes, and test scores. You can even submit your essays for overnight feedback. Open 7 Days a week from 8am-10pm from 3/20 to 6/30 with a SPPL or FML library card.
  • Learning Express Library
    Select ‘School Center’ for help with math, reading, social studies and other academic skills.  Prepare for tests such as AP, SAT, ACT, & GRE, too!
  • Explora Quick Search for Middle Schoolers
    Explora allows you to search multiple databases at once for articles, facts and images.  Do you need to pick a topic? Browse among multiple categories for ideas!
  • Explora Quick Search for High Schoolers
    Search multiple high-school level databases at once for articles, facts and images – or browse among multiple categories to help you choose a topic for research!

  • Mango Languages
    Mango is an online language learning program that can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection. Mango offers access to 60 foreign language courses and 17 English courses taught completely in the user’s native language.
  • Rosetta Stone
    A language resource provided by the NJ State Library that includes 30 different languages.
