Library Programs

The Scotch Plains Public Library’s Youth Services Department offers a wide range of programs for children and teens.


Programs for birth-five years

Weekly Spring Storytimes resume in May! Check back for updates soon! Online registration is required for all programs except our Super Saturday Program. Registration opens 1 week prior and are to Scotch Plains and Fanwood residents.

Super Saturday Storytime

The entire family is welcome to join us for this storytime each Saturday! Children and their caregivers can increase language development and comprehension with our stories, songs, and rhymes.

Little Listeners – from birth to 23 months

Delight and stimulate your baby’s senses with short books, music, and movement activities. This baby program, which is designed for children from birth to 23 months and their caregivers, encourages early language development in a fun and engaging environment.

Terrific Twos – from 24 to 35 months

Travel the path to literacy at our fun and engaging program designed just for two-year-olds. Caregivers will interact with their children through books, music, and movement activities while exploring letters, sounds, and counting!

Preschool Storytime – for 3-5 year olds

Children ages 3 to 5 can join us for this interactive storytime program.  This program is designed to practice school readiness skills and foster a love of reading and learning in young children.

Crafty Kids – for 3-5 year olds

Link literature with art in this program designed for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Perfect for the child who like to express themselves with glue and crayons! Each session will include a book with a related craft.

Programs for Elementary Age Students

Bookworm Buddies
Grades K-5

Join the Beyond the Book Club from SPFHS for a student-run book club. This book club is designed for students in Kindergarten to 5th grade and will feature a shared story, themed discussion questions, and a craft. Children have great amounts of fun expanding their creative sides and working on comprehension skills with our selected books with fun and useful themes.
