Meeting monthly to discuss a chosen book.
Join us on Zoom for an informal book chat once a month to share your thoughts on what you’ve been reading! (For now, it’s Bring Your Own Bagel!)
Each month, registered participants choose and prepare recipes from the selected cookbook (or participate in other cooking activities). We then gather together (currently outside) to discuss our results. Open to cooks of all levels!
Next Chapter Book Club
Next Chapter Book Club meetings offer young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities an opportunity to share reading and conversation with friends.
Clubs meet on Tuesday evenings from September to June and are facilitated by librarians and community volunteers.
Next Chapter Book Club does not teach reading, but it does encourage the enjoyment of books. As participants take turns reading aloud, formerly reluctant readers often become more comfortable with the written word. Non-readers are also encourage to join the group, and facilitators have been trained in techniques such as “echo reading,” which foster participation for all.
Books are supplied by the library, and members bring money if they want to order refreshments when the group members take a break from reading.
Contact the Adult Services department for more information: [email protected] or (908) 322-5007, x204.
