Earn points toward raffle tickets for reading and for attending library events! Every teen who earns 720 points by the end of the challenge will also receive a free book.

  • Register via the Beanstack website. All Scotch Plains residents and SPF district students entering grades 6-12 are eligible to join.
  • The teen summer reading challenge runs from 6/1 through 8/18. Pre-registration opens on 5/13.
  • Track your reading time on Beanstack (website or app) and earn 1 point per minute.
  • You may also earn points toward raffle tickets by attending our events for teens (30 points per event).
  • For every 120 points you will earn a raffle ticket. Each teen can earn a maximum of six raffle tickets.
  • Raffle tickets must be entered into the raffle(s) of your choice (via Beanstack) by Sunday, 8/18. Winners will be drawn and notified on Monday, 8/19.
  • ALL READING DONE BETWEEN 6/1 AND 8/18 COUNTS! Assigned reading, graphic novels, audiobooks, fiction, nonfiction, poetry… Track it all to earn more tickets faster!
  • Every teen who earns 720 points (12 hours of reading or a combination of reading + event attendance) by 8/18 will receive a free brand-new book to keep.

You will need a Scotch Plains or Fanwood library card number to register. If you do not have a library card/have lost your card, please visit the library to get one! (If you are under 18 you will need to bring your parent/guardian. See this page for more information about getting a library card.)

Please note: If you participated in our summer reading programs in the past, you will still need to create a new account.
