Volunteer to Shelf-read

This volunteering opportunity is for Scotch Plains/Fanwood students in grades 6-12 only.

Shelf-reading is the process of checking library shelves to make sure each book is exactly where it’s supposed to be. It’s repetitive work but it’s essential, because without it we would be unable to find the books our patrons need!

Shelf-reading volunteers must successfully pass a one-hour training session before being assigned their weekly shifts. Once you pass the training, you will start with half-hour shifts for your first few weeks, and if things are going well, you can do one-hour shifts to earn more volunteer time.

Please note: all volunteers must fill out and submit our standard volunteer application before training.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. For more volunteering opportunities, visit our Volunteer page.
