Going Native without Feeding Bambi

Monday, April 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Gardeners are increasingly becoming aware of their role in creating gardens that are beautiful AND provide habitat for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. This is best accomplished by using native plants, an extremely challenging task throughout much of New Jersey as native plants are deer favorites. Lourdes Osorio will discuss a number of deer-resistant native plants, their growing requirements and their value to pollinators. It will help you save time and money on plant selection as you create your own paradise.

A passionate gardener for over 25 years, Lourdes Osorio is the creator of Native Plant Channel on YouTube and Facebook, an educational channel that produces videos that help gardeners grow native plants. Lourdes is the Native Plant Manager at Laurelwood Arboretum in Wayne, NJ and responsible for the installation and management of the arboretum’s new Native Habitat Garden.

This program is co-sponsored by the Scotch Plains Garden Club.

The Scotch Plains Garden Club is a diverse group of men and women coming together with a mission to beautify Scotch Plains. For more information about the club and upcoming events, please check out their website at scotchplainsgardenclub.com.
