Monday, December 4, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Napoleon is best-known as a brilliant general, but he was just as gifted at politics as at war.

Join us on Zoom for a look at Napoleon as a political animal.

Professor Rafe Blaufarb will trace his rise, during the French Revolution, from social obscurity and low-rank to the top of the military and, then, the state.  He will explore how, once in power, Napoleon managed to achieve what all the great men of the French Revolution had failed to do:  end political instability, curb civil strife, and build new institutions that last to this very day.

Whether you plan to see the recently released biopic, or just want to know more about this fascinating and controversial figure, this will be a great opportunity to hear a historian’s expert insights.
