Replacing Victor’s Headstone

Thursday, May 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The simple goal of wanting to visit the gravesites of all her direct ancestors back to 3rd great grandparents, developed into quite the project when cousins discovered the headstone of their 3rd great grandfather, Victor Henry, was broken. Come learn about the subsequent research done and the steps taken to replace Victor’s stone. April Earle will discuss her initial research goal, navigating cemeteries, discovering long lost descendants, leveraging social media, and the multitude of obstacles encountered during this project.

Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

April Lynne Earle is a librarian. She is a member of the Library Faculty at Farmingdale State College, a college of technology in the State University of New York (SUNY) system. In addition to her primary role as the cataloger, she provides reference service and information literacy instruction. She received both her Masters in Library Science and Master of Arts in Public History from St. John’s University; where she now teaches their Library Science course on Genealogical Sources & Services. With over 30 years of personal genealogy research experience, her real joy is helping others discover their family history. She hopes her work helps people connect to the past in a more personal way through the stories of those who have gone before us.
