The teen reading program:

Set your own reading goal and we’ll give you raffle entries for making progress toward it! Every teen who finishes their personal reading goal by the 8/16 deadline will also receive a free book.

  • Register below. All Scotch Plains residents/SPF students entering grades 6-12 in Scotch Plains/Fanwood are eligible to join.
  • When you register below, you will be asked to set a reading goal (up to 200 hours) for the summer. All the reading you do between 6/1 and 8/16 counts toward that goal, including graphic novels, audiobooks, news articles, and summer reading assignments. Keep track of all the time you spend reading and log that time in Readsquared or on a paper reading log.
  • All reading time must be recorded in Readsquared and all paper reading logs must be sent to [email protected] by midnight on Wednesday, 8/16, to be eligible for earning raffle tickets. No late submissions will be counted.
  • For each 25% of your goal that you reach, you will earn a virtual raffle ticket. After the reading program is over we will email you with your total number of raffle tickets and instructions to enter the raffle(s) for the prize(s) of your choice. The raffles will close at midnight on 8/20 and prize winners will be notified on 8/21.

The prizes:

There will be 4 raffle prizes. Each includes 2-4 books and an activity or accessory.

Register for the reading program:

Create an account on Readsquared to register for our summer reading program, even if you will be using a paper log to track your reading time. When you are setting up your account, make sure to choose the teen program!

Please note: if you participated in our summer reading programs in the past, you will still need to create a new account.

Printable reading logs:

If you prefer not to use Readsquared, print one of these reading logs and use it to keep track of your reading time! (You will still need to join the teen program through Readsquared; see the section above.) Printed copies of these logs are also available for pickup at the library. There are full-page and bookmark-sized options.

When you’ve reached 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of your goal, just email us a picture of your log(s). Make sure you send us a photo of your final reading log(s) by midnight on Wednesday, 8/16. Late submissions will not be counted.
