The Birth of Rock & Roll

April 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Birth of Rock & Roll through the British Invasion

Paul Groom returns to trace the development of popular music in the USA from the early post World War II years through the lens of socio-economic development and the technology that impacted the music industry. Early proponents, entrepreneurs, and songwriters will be discussed and some of our favorite performers (Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Pat Boone, and others) will be listened to.

Paul will also discuss the difference between the rock & roll experience here and in the UK. Why were the Beatles a success in the UK, and were they a success in the USA for the same reasons? Who followed the Beatles in the British Invasion?

No registration needed.
