Rescheduled 7/29 In the Steps of Galileo

July 29 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Rescheduled – 7/29 due to predicted predicted Thunderstorms

Astrono-educator Bob Reichman returns to help us observe Jupiter just as Galileo did in the early 1600’s.  Will you come to the same startling conclusions that rocked his world?

After an indoor program and activity we will set up a 12″ Dobsonian telescope (weather permitting) and share stellar views of Jupiter, the 4 Galilean moons and a bonus of Saturn and his ring system as they drift across the southern skies.

This year’s summer reading theme is A Universe of Stories. We will explore the depths of outer space and share stories from around the world. Please visit scotlib.readsquared.com to register for summer reading, where you can earn points for reading, attending programs, and other activities.

Scotch Plains and Fanwood cardholders may borrow a telescope for home use! (Visit your home library to borrow the telescope.)

Learn more about stargazing!  Try this streaming video class, “Our Night Sky” from The Great Courses, available to Scotch Plains Library cardholders through the RBDigital.
