Composting for Climate Action
Monday, April 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Did you know that composting can help fight climate change?
When organic waste like food scraps and leaves are sent to landfills, they break down and produce methane, a greenhouse gas that’s twenty-five times more powerful than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere!
By composting we can significantly reduce this output and mitigate climate change. And when compost is applied to our soil it can help reduce erosion, improve water quality, enhance plant growth, and reduce need for potentially harmful fertilizers and pesticides.
Join us for an informative program with Isaac Bearg of the NJ Composting Council. Learn all about the power of composting, and how we can make the process a part of our lives.
Isaac Bearg is Vice President of the New Jersey Composting Council, a nonprofit organization created to advance compost manufacturing, compost utilization, organics and food waste recycling to benefit our members, society, and the environment.
