Just for Teens!

We’ve got lots of activities coming up for teens and middle school students!

Middle School: After-School Scene

Every Monday and Wednesday in January, kids in grades 5-8 are invited to relax, socialize, and have fun after school. From 3:30-4:30, students can complete homework in our gallery space or head into the meeting room for games, maker activities (including our beading and drawing kits) and more!  No registration is required.

Chess Club

Chess Club

On Wednesday, January 11 and Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 pm, Scotch Plains and Fanwood cardholders ages 9-16 are invited to participate in our re-ignited chess club.  The program will continue on alternate Wednesdays through March 1.

Online pre-registration is required for the chess club, one week before each session.

Teen Anime Club

Join us to discuss favorite titles, start your bleach spray t-shirt, and watch Your Lie in April. Snacks will be served. Registration is recommended.

 

Learn to Bead!

Beading ToolsJoin us for a workshop with artist Eva Sienkiewicz, who will teach basic beading techniques using the Library’s new Beading Art Kits.  Make your own unique jewelry!  This program is for anyone middle school-aged or older, and registration is required.

The Beading Art Kit and two Drawing Kits are available for individual teen use in the Adult Room any time the library is open. The kits, along with other STEAM materials and programming, were funded through a Union County Freeholder’s 2016 Union County Library Grant.

Teen Anime Club

Join us for our next monthly Teen Anime Club meeting on Monday, November 28! Kids in grades 6-12 are invited to meet downstairs at 7pm to watch a widely acclaimed anime series (Your Lie in April), discuss our favorite titles, and try your hand at drawing.
