2008 Book Sale Information

Dates:

  • Thursday, March 13: 9 AM to 8 PM
  • Friday, March 14: 9 AM to 4 PM
  • Saturday, March 15: 9 AM to 3 PM (Bag sale all day)

Children's Book Sale:
  • Saturday, March 8: 9 AM to 4 PM
  • Sunday, March 9: 12 PM to 3 PM


Volunteers are needed. Please sign up at the Circulation Desk. Also, please donate your clean, salable books, DVDs, CDs, videos, etc.

Donations will be accepted from January 22 through March 1.

Preview Night: Wednesday, March 12, from 7 to 8 PM for members of Friends of the Scotch Plains Library only. New members may join at the door.


2008 Book Sale Donation Guidelines

Donations will be accepted from January 22 through March 1.

Volunteers will be available at the following times to assist donors with unloading their cars:

  • Saturday, January 26 from 12:30 to 3 PM
  • Saturday, February 2 from 10 AM - 4 PM
  • Saturday, March 1 from 10 AM - 4 PM

Please pack books in smaller (not too heavy!) boxes or bags.

Please donate:

  • Books in clean, salable condition
  • Hardback and paperback books for adults and children, including fiction and non-fiction and complete sets of books.
  • Recorded media such as Books on Tape or CD, music CDs, DVDs, and videotapes.

Please do not donate:

  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias
  • Reader's Digest Books
  • Audiocassettes
  • Incomplete sets of books
  • Smelly, moldy, torn, or broken books
  • Magazines
  • Hymnals
  • Outdated computer books
  • Children's games
  • Phonograph records
  • Computer software or games


Who Are Friends?
   The Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization of concerned citizens dedicated to...
  • supporting the library's various activities and services
  • promoting the use of the library with projects such as children's summer programs, shut-in reader service, adopt-a-shelf, and special adult program
  • fund-raising efforts including an annual book sale and audio-visual sale

 
About Membership...
   The Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library is open to all interested adults and youth, and membership is accepted throughout the year.
 
   "Friends" meet on the third Tuesday of each month (September-June), at 7:30 PM in the downstairs meeting room of the Library. All members are invited to attend.
