Woodland String Quartet

The Woodland String Quartet will perform their  annual Mozart and More concert at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Monday, August 28 at 6:45 pm. They have performed here since 1970. This year’s theme is “Mozart and Musicals” anchored by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s string quartet #4 in C Major K 157 written when he was a teenager. The rest of the program will consist of selections from classic musicals: Phantom of the Opera, Kismet, Girl Crazy, Lady, Be Good, Naughty Marietta, Everybody’s Welcome, and Sinbad. Composers represented are Alexander Borodin, Victor Herbert, Andrew Lloyd Webber, George Gershwin, and others. The members of the quartet this performance are first violinist Debra Biderman, violinist Lubove Schnable, violinist James Dykema, and cellist Leo Wang. Commentary on the musicals will be by Harry “Skip” Ungar. This program is free and open to all interested participants. Registration is not required for this event, and seating will be on a first come, first seated basis beginning at 6:30 pm.
