Lincoln Center Local

March 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for a Lincoln Center screening of Unsung Carolyn Leigh, which was originally performed and recorded at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse on April 5, 2014.

Carolyn LeighFrom such popular standards as “Witchcraft” and “Young at Heart” to Broadway’s Little Me and Peter Pan, legendary lyricist Carolyn Leigh has an enduring legacy of smart, sophisticated and often sexy songwriting. Unsung Carolyn Leigh highlights the Tony-and Grammy-nominated icon’s little-known works, including several jazz-infused items from her acclaimed 1969 Gatsby score, a cut song from How Now Dow Jones, and two numbers written with Marvin Hamlisch for the original, unproduced version of Smile. Ten dynamic performers, a sizzling trio of musicians, and over twenty melodic gems color the intimate evening, which also features rare audio clips from two of Ms. Leigh’s original demo recordings.

Lincoln Center Local partners with local libraries to bring exclusive free screenings of Lincoln Center’s finest performances directly to your neighborhood.  Major support for Lincoln Center Local: Free Screenings is provided by the Oak Foundation.  Additional support is provided by the Booth Ferris Foundation and the Altman Foundation.  MetLife is the national sponsor of Lincoln Center.
